Hummingbirds shake their heads to deal with rain

Hummingbirds have the fastest movement of their wings. But there is also something else that hummingbirds can do: when rain begins to fall and their heads are completly wet, all the hummingbirds shake their heads to avoid the rain and get the water off because scientists said that if they don't shake their heads, the rain could get to their eyes and they wouldn't see. But if the hummingbirds shake their heads, they will be safe. Some scientists that didn't know what would happen if the hummingbirds didn't shake their heads brought some of the humming birds to their lab and they tested them. But all of the humming birds were always ready when they set on the water everytime. So not only hummingbirds are very fast by moving their wings but also smart when the rain comes so the hmmingbirds could shake their heads.

My first thought about this article was that it was interesting. I never actually knew that hummingbirds shake their heads when it rains. But there was also a video in the website of a hummingbird that shook its head when rain began to fall.
But I don't know what place are the hummingbirds in the smartest animals in the world. So please send me a message on gmail if you know the answer to my question.

  1. I'm not sure about the place of hummingbirds. I know their wing speed is very fast. This is a very interesting article. I have never heard of hummingbirds shaking their heads in the rain. I guess like dogs and cats do.
